Ban list

Riftbound banned cards

Riot Games bans a card from Riftbound: the League of Legends trading card game when it is bad for competitive play. Seven cards and five battlefields are banned in Riftbound Constructed today, and 2v2 Constructed bans one more Legend. This page lists every banned card with the day its ban took effect and Riot's reason for it.

A banned card may not be played in a Constructed deck of Riftbound, not in the main deck, among the battlefields or in the sideboard. A ban covers every printing of the card, so its alternate art, overnumbered and promo copies are banned too. Sealed and Draft decks may still use a card banned in Constructed, unless that format bans it as well.

Riot has banned Riftbound cards on three days so far, from 31 March 2026 to 18 September 2026, and the newest bans come first on this page.

Banned on 18 September 2026

Riot's September 2026 ban list update took effect on 18 September 2026 and banned two cards in Riftbound Constructed. Riot's announcement gives the full reasoning.

Ekko, Recurrent

Ekko, Recurrent

Granting an extra turn and recycling itself, it drove an endless combo in Lux decks that left the opponent few chances to interact and played like solitaire; Riot judged that most Mind decks lose little without it.

Stacked Deck

Stacked Deck

Cheap and at home in any Chaos deck, it gave more consistency than Riot wanted: with Lightning Rush and the Kennen Legend it cycled through the deck too efficiently, finding key cards while filling the trash for Rhasa the Sunderer and Last Rites.

The other printing of Stacked Deck is banned too: the Nexus Night promo OGN-183/298 P.

Banned on 24 July 2026

Riot's July 2026 ban list update took effect on 24 July 2026 and banned one card and two battlefields in Riftbound Constructed. Riot's announcement gives the full reasoning.

Stealthy Pursuer

Stealthy Pursuer

With Eye of the Herald and Renata Glasc, Industrialist it made an endless combo that could create Recruit tokens without limit from the third turn, consistently enough to polarise games, and Riot judged the problem would only get worse.

The other printing of Stealthy Pursuer is banned too: the Nexus Night promo OGN-177/298 P.

Aspirant's Climb

Aspirant's Climb

Raising the points needed to win by one, it became the standard pick for the later games of a match once players knew who went first, and it made tournament rounds run long.

The other printing of Aspirant's Climb is banned too: the Worlds Bundle 2025 promo OGN-276a/298 P.

The Arena's Greatest

The Arena's Greatest

Giving each player a point in their first Beginning Phase, it was especially strong for the player going first and became the near automatic pick for the later games of a match, an advantage Riot did not want to reinforce.

Banned on 31 March 2026

Riot's first bans took effect on 31 March 2026 and banned four cards and three battlefields in Riftbound Constructed. Riot's announcement gives the full reasoning.

Called Shot

Called Shot

Together with Scrapheap it let Miracle decks filter through most of their deck and play undercosted units in one turn, a style of play Riot found unhealthy and slow, and one it expected to grow stronger with every new set.

Draven, Vanquisher

Draven, Vanquisher

A guaranteed turn-two play this strong gave Draven decks early pressure that was hard to answer, and Midrange Draven became more common and stronger than Riot considers healthy. Riot banned the unit rather than the Legend so that Draven decks stay playable.

The other printing of Draven, Vanquisher is banned too: the alternate art SFD-020a/221.

Fight or Flight

Fight or Flight

Played from hand or hidden, to stop a combat or save a unit, it was the best choice in too many situations and crowded other reasonable cards out of Chaos decks.

The Dreaming Tree

The Dreaming Tree

Used on both players' turns, it gave so much card flow and consistency that it distorted deckbuilding across the whole metagame.

Obelisk of Power

Obelisk of Power

It let a deck reach the same energy breakpoints whether it went first or second, so nearly every strong deck brought it and interesting choices of energy costs went out of deckbuilding.

Reaver's Row

Reaver's Row

It rewarded retreating over holding a battlefield in a real showdown, a pattern Riot found noninteractive, worst when both players brought it, and it was especially strong in Draven decks and in domains that already conquer more easily than they hold.

Banned in 2v2 Constructed only

The 2v2 format of Riftbound Constructed bans every card on the lists above and one more Legend, which 1v1 Constructed still allows.

Master Yi, Wuju Bladesman

Master Yi, Wuju Bladesman

Its +2 Might for a unit that defends alone helps both teammates in 2v2, so the Legend gave far more stats from the start of the game than Riot considers healthy, and it was hugely overrepresented among the top teams of the format. Riot's ban announcement gives the full reasoning.

Every other printing of Master Yi, Wuju Bladesman is banned too: the Nexus Night promo OGS-019/024 P, the Metal Legends promo, Best-Of metal OGS-019/024 P and the Metal Legends promo, Prize Wall plated OGS-019/024 P.

How Riot decides to ban a card, and how errata change the wording of a card instead, is told in the guide's article on bans and errata in Riftbound. The deck builder on Riftbound.org warns when a deck holds a banned card.
