Rarity guide
Every Riftbound card has a small gem at the bottom of its frame. The shape of that gem is the rarity of the card, and it tells you how often the card turns up in a booster pack. Four rarities cover every card you play with. A fifth gem marks the collectible printings.

Common
Round gemBronze frame289 cards
Commons fill half of every booster pack. They are meant to be simple, clear and useful, with an obvious job in a deck. Basic runes and tokens carry the round gem as well.

Uncommon
Triangular gemSilver frame280 cards
Uncommons ask a little more of you. They tend to be more complex, narrower in use or built around a synergy. Battlefields are printed at Uncommon, so they are easy to get and you do not need many copies.

Rare
Square gemGold frame, full art268 cards
Rares are designed to be exciting and powerful. Every Legend is a Rare, and in Origins each of them also has a Rare version of its champion unit. That keeps the deck you want to play within reach.
- In a pack
- 2 slots, shared with Epic
- Finish
- Always foil

- Champion Units 108
- Legends 55
- Units 42

- Gear 26

Epic
Pentagonal gemSlim gold frame167 cards
Epic is the highest rarity that matters for play. Champion units and signature spells make up most of it. An Epic takes the place of a Rare in the pack, so a single pack can hold two.

- Always foil

Showcase
Hexagonal gemA frame of its own268 cards
The hexagon marks a collectible printing of a card that also exists with one of the four gems above. It plays exactly like the original. Only the artwork, the finish and the collector number are different.

Showcase printings
Next to its standard printing a card can come in four showcase printings. The collector number tells you which one you are holding. The standard, alternate art and special cards below are all Ahri, Inquisitive. The overnumbered and signature cards are both The Boss, so the signature is all that sets them apart.

Alternate Art
Number ends in a
OGN-119a/298
The same card with different artwork, often a skin from League of Legends, and a richer foil. In Origins about two turn up per display of 24 packs.
112 cards
Overnumbered
Number above the set size
OGN-310/298
Artwork made for Riftbound by artists at Riot, finished with foil, UV and texture. The number runs past the size of the set because the printing is left out when legality is decided. Riot has said it will never reprint one with the same art and frame.
103 cards
Signature
Number ends in a star
OGN-310*/298
An overnumbered card that carries the signature of the artist in foil. In Origins that is about one in ten overnumbered cards.
45 cards
Special
Numbered SP
VEN-SP3/006
Alternate art with a numbering of its own. Vendetta uses it for the Crystal Rose skins from Wild Rift, which turn up as often as other alternate art.

Ultimate
Ultimate is kept for single cards that are very hard to find. The first is this overnumbered Baron Nashor from Unleashed, found in fewer than 1 pack in 1,000. A pack never holds more than one, and not every set has one. The official gallery has no rarity of this name and lists the card as an overnumbered Epic.
Looking for these in the card list? Use the Printing filter. The official gallery files showcase printings under Showcase for Origins and Spiritforged, and under the rarity of the original card from Unleashed on, so the Rarity filter alone misses part of them.
Inside a booster pack
A booster pack holds 14 cards and an insert. Origins set the split shown here and the sets after it kept to it. From Radiance on, one of the two Rare slots is always a Rare or an Epic, and showcase printings come from the other.

How often they turn up
| Card | How often | Set |
|---|---|---|
Epic | About 1 pack in 4 | Origins |
Alternate Art | About 2 per display of 24 packs | Origins |
Overnumbered | About 1 per 3 displays | Origins |
Signature | About 1 in 10 overnumbered cards | Origins |
Ultimate | Fewer than 1 pack in 1,000 | Unleashed |
Ultimate | About 1 pack in 4,000 | Radiance |
These are the figures Riot has published. They are averages across a whole print run and no promise for any single pack or display.
