About Riftbound Runes

Runes are the energy of Riftbound. Every deck brings 12 of them in a rune deck of its own, next to the 40 cards of the main deck. At the start of each turn you channel two runes from the rune deck into play, and from then on they pay for everything you do: a rune you exhaust gives one Energy, a rune you recycle back into the rune deck gives one Power of its domain. Energy pays the number in the corner of a card, Power pays the rune symbols beside it.

There is one basic rune for each of the six domains: Fury, Calm, Mind, Body, Chaos and Order. A rune has no cost and no text, only its domain, and the runes of a deck must stay within the domains of its Legend. So the choice a rune leaves you is the mix: how many of each domain a two-domain deck brings, which decides how easily it pays the Power cost of its cards.

The official card gallery lists 54 rune cards: a basic rune of each domain in Origins, Vendetta and Radiance, and 12 alternate art printings with the Showcase gem in Origins and Radiance. A basic rune comes in every booster pack, in the last slot it shares with the tokens, and now and then the pack holds an alternate art rune in foil instead.

The list below groups the runes by domain, with the printings of each set. A basic rune of a domain plays the same whichever set it comes from.
