About Riftbound Alternate Art Cards

An alternate art card is a second printing of a card from the set with different artwork, told apart by the letter a after its number: Ahri, Alluring is card 066 of Origins and its alternate art printing is 066a. The card plays exactly like the one it reprints, with the same name, text and cost, and counts as a copy of it in a deck. What changes is the picture, a richer foil and the hexagonal Showcase gem in place of the rarity gem.

The artwork is most often a skin from League of Legends, the champion as that game dresses it, which is why nearly every alternate art card is a champion unit. The basic runes get alternate art too, with a new picture of their domain, and those turn up in the last slot of a booster pack, where a pack otherwise holds a token or a plain basic rune.

The official card gallery lists 124 alternate art cards across five sets: 30 in Origins, 24 in Spiritforged, 30 in Unleashed, 18 in Vendetta and 22 in Radiance so far. 112 are units, 106 of them champion units of 54 champions, and 12 are runes from Origins and Radiance. Riot puts the odds of one in a booster pack at one in 12, about 2 per display of 24 packs, and the 11 special cards numbered SP are drawn at the same rate.

The list below shows the alternate art cards by set, the newest first. Open a card for its regular printing, its text and its prices.
