Riftbound: Legacy, the sixth set of the League of Legends trading card game, releases on January 29, 2027, with Pre-Rift events in stores from January 22 to 28. Riot has named its Legends, its mechanics and its product line, and over the past week the boxes of the last few products have been shown. This is the short version; the Legacy overview keeps the whole of it, and the products guide has a page for everything sold with the set.
What we know so far
Legacy is the largest Riftbound set yet: 239 cards in the main numbering and 93 Showcase printings by Riot's count, where Radiance has 167 numbered cards. Its set code is LGC and its line is Bear the Banner. Forge Your Legacy. Regions are its theme. Each of its twelve Legends embodies one of six regions of Runeterra, and eight are named so far: Garen and Lux for Demacia, Vladimir for Noxus, Karma for Ionia, Heimerdinger for Piltover and Zaun, Ashe and Tryndamere for the Freljord, and Illaoi for Bilgewater.
Three things are new. Legacy is the first set designed for drafting, with signpost cards at Common and Uncommon and a Minion card in the Rune Kits of stores to fill out a deck that comes up short. Every booster gives up one of its seven Common slots for a slot that holds a Legend or a battlefield, each about half the time, and every set after Legacy keeps that arrangement. And the cards carry Riot's updated wording: a grey backer marks the target of an effect, an arrow separates the condition of a triggered ability from its effect, and Create replaces Play for tokens. Some cards also carry artwork inspired by League of Legends Classic.
Two cards have been shown: Scaled Snapper, a Common Calm unit from Ionia numbered 41 of 239, and the Minion of the Rune Kits. The first real preview comes at Convergence Fest in Las Vegas on December 11 to 13, with more previews in January before Pre-Rift week.
The products revealed so far
Riot announced the product line in August and the prices followed within days, but the boxes themselves have only turned up over the past week. The newest are the Pre-Rift kits. Legacy replaces the single kit of earlier sets with six regional boxes, one each for Demacia, Noxus, Ionia, Piltover & Zaun, Freljord and Bilgewater, with the crest of the region in stained glass on the front. Each holds a Pre-Rift pack of the region's cards, two Legends, five Legacy boosters and two promo cards with the Pre-Rift stamp. A store's event kit holds eighteen of them, three per region, with a booster display for prizes. Which Legends come in each box, what the region pack holds and which cards get the stamp are still unannounced.
The six Sanctum Boxes were photographed a few days earlier: a deck box per region at $34.99 that holds 70 double-sleeved cards, shows your Legend in a removable frame on the front and has a lid that opens out into a score track. Before them came the box art of the four Champion Decks, the Legacy Vault, the six art sleeves and the collector binder. The Champion Decks are built for two-against-two games, Tryndamere and Ashe against Garen and Lux, and none of their decklists is out yet.
