Not every deck of Riftbound: the League of Legends trading card game has to be built card by card. Riot also makes decks that are ready to play the moment the box is opened, each one built around a Legend with its runes and battlefields included. They come in three kinds of product: the Champion Deck with one deck, the Showdown Decks with two decks made to face each other, and Proving Grounds, the starter box with four.

Each of the first four main sets has ready-made decks of its own. Radiance, the fifth set, adds a Showdown box with its release on 23 October 2026, and Riot has announced more for 2027.

What kinds of ready-made decks are there?

The three kinds differ mainly in how many decks come in one box. The table compares them.

A Champion Deck and each deck in a Showdown box follow the full deck rules: one Legend, a Main Deck of 40 cards, a Rune Deck of 12 runes and the three battlefields a Duel asks for, which makes 56 cards. UVS Games, which manufactures Riftbound under license from Riot, describes the Showdown Decks as very similar to the Champion Decks, with two complete decks in one box. A Champion Deck also comes with a booster pack of its set, a full-size paper playmat, a foldable paper deck box and a booklet with the rules and tips for building decks. A Showdown box has two packs, two playmats, two deck boxes and a rulebook.

The Proving Grounds decks hold 54 cards, because each one brings a single battlefield, which is all a game inside the box needs. A Pre-Rift kit holds only part of a deck: a ready-made pack of 15 cards with a Legend and a champion unit, which each player completes with five booster packs at a Pre-Rift event, a Sealed event held in the week before a set releases.

Which starter deck a new player should pick depends on who will play. A Champion Deck suits one player who wants to join games at a local store, a Showdown box suits two people who want decks built by the full rules, and Proving Grounds suits two to four people who learn together.

Which Champion Decks has Riot made?

The first three sets came with seven Champion Decks between them, each with a launch price of $19.99. Every Champion Deck is named after its champion and is led by that champion's Legend.

  • Origins, 31 October 2025. The Jinx deck is Fury and Chaos, led by Loose Cannon, and plays aggressive units and explosive spells. The Viktor deck is Mind and Order, led by Herald of the Arcane, and swarms the board with units. The Lee Sin deck is Calm and Body, led by Blind Monk, and buffs its units and protects them with defensive spells.
  • Spiritforged, 13 February 2026. The Fiora deck is Body and Order, led by Grand Duelist, and uses spells and equipment to make its units Mighty. The Rumble deck is Fury and Mind, led by Mechanized Menace, and is built around Mechs that make each other stronger.
  • Unleashed, 8 May 2026. The Vi deck is Fury and Order, led by Piltover Enforcer, and buffs big units and sends them hard at the battlefields. The Vex deck is Calm and Chaos, led by Gloomist, and sets out to make every choice hard for the opponent.

What a deck sells for in stores and on marketplaces can differ from its launch price, deck by deck. Today the Origins Jinx deck sells for $33.02, the Origins Viktor deck for $63.38 and the Unleashed Vi deck for $15.60.

Vendetta and Radiance have no Champion Decks. In those two sets a Showdown box takes their place.

Which Showdown Decks are there?

There are two Showdown boxes, one for Vendetta and one for Radiance, and each has a launch price of $34.99. Each box sets two champions with a story between them against each other, and Riot presents it as an easy way to start playing with a friend. The Vendetta box sells for $15.14 today.

What is in the Proving Grounds starter box?

Proving Grounds holds four ready-made decks for two to four new players, built around Annie, Garen, Lux and Master Yi. It came out on 31 October 2025, the same day as Origins. Besides the decks, the box holds four acrylic champion figures to keep score with and a How to Play booklet that teaches the rules in the order a game needs them.

Each deck is led by a Starter Legend made for the box, such as Dark Child for Annie and Wuju Bladesman for Master Yi. How each of the four decks plays differs a lot: the Garen deck floods the battlefields with units, the Master Yi deck holds them with one strong defender, the Lux deck clears the way with expensive spells and the Annie deck burns units with cheap spells.

Which ready-made decks has Riot announced for 2027?

In its announcement of 3 August 2026, Riot named the next ready-made decks together with the sets of 2027. That announcement gave no decklists, and it gave a price for only one of the products.

  • Legacy, the sixth set, with its release on 29 January 2027, brings four Champion Decks, for Tryndamere, Ashe, Lux and Garen. Lux and Garen also led two of the four decks in the first Proving Grounds.
  • Proving Grounds, 2nd Edition, with its release on 19 February 2027, is a new starter box with four decks built around Heimerdinger, Karma, Vladimir and Illaoi, all champions of Legacy. Riot has announced it at $40, in English, Chinese, French and Korean, and has said that it will hold no card that cannot also be found in booster packs.
  • The Reckoning, the seventh set, with its release on 30 April 2027, brings Champion Decks for Shyvana and Vayne.

Can you play a ready-made deck at a store event?

Yes. A Champion Deck or a deck from a Showdown box meets the full deck rules, with 40 cards in the Main Deck, 12 runes and three battlefields with different names, so it can go to a store event the day it is opened. A Proving Grounds deck needs two more battlefields first, because each player in a Duel brings three (Core Rules 487.4.a). UVS Games lists Modified Champion Deck, beside Constructed and Sealed, among the formats a store may pick for its weekly Nexus Night.

The Tournament Rules give ready-made decks one more allowance. At events of the Casual level, such as Nexus Night, a deck that matches the exact contents of a ready-made Riftbound product may keep cards that are on the banned list (rule 601.2.d.2). The rules name the Origins Champion Deck: Jinx as the example, with its copies of Fight or Flight, Scrapheap and Reaver's Row. Once a single card changes or a sideboard is added, the banned cards have to go, and at Competitive and Professional events they are not allowed at all.

What can you do with a ready-made deck once you have one?

The best first step is to play the deck as it comes, and then to change it a few cards at a time. A ready-made deck already works, so every swap teaches you something about it, and the booster packs in the box are a first source of new cards. Changing a few cards at a time is also how a player can upgrade a Champion Deck into a deck of their own.

When the deck lacks one particular card, a single card is often a quicker way to get it than opening more packs. Single cards come from local game stores, from Cardmarket in Europe, from TCGplayer in the United States and from CardTrader on both sides.

The decks sold in a box are on the decks page card for card, beside the decks players have built, and the products guide shows every box with what it holds.
