What does Vision do?
Vision is a Riftbound keyword on units and gear. When you play a card with Vision, you look at the top card of your Main Deck, then leave it there to draw next or recycle it to the bottom of the deck.

Vision is a keyword in Riftbound: the League of Legends trading card game. It lets you check your next draw before it happens. When you play a unit or a gear with Vision, you look at the top card of your Main Deck. If you like what you see, the card stays on top. If you do not, you recycle it to the bottom of your Main Deck.
Cards with Vision carry the reminder "When you play me, look at the top card of your Main Deck. You may recycle it." The effect is small, but it lets a card improve your next draw as well as doing its own job on the board.
How does Vision work, step by step?
Vision takes three steps. You play the card, and it enters the board. You look at the top card of your Main Deck. Then you leave that card on top or recycle it. Vision never draws the card. It only decides which card you draw next, usually in the Draw Phase of your next turn.
Rule 817 of the Core Rules defines Vision as a triggered ability that is short for "When this is played, Predict." Predict, rule 437, is the game action of looking at the top card of your Main Deck and choosing whether to recycle it. Looking is not revealing, so your opponent does not see the card's face. A recycled card goes to the bottom of your Main Deck, and the cards above it keep their order.
Mystic Poro, a Chaos unit from Origins with 2 Might for 2 Energy, has Vision and nothing else. Jeweled Colossus, a Mind unit with 5 Might for 5 Energy, adds Shield. Divining Shells, an Order gear from Unleashed that costs 2 Energy, shows that Vision works on gear too.
When does Vision happen, and can it be stopped?
Vision happens right after its card enters the board. It is a play effect, a triggered ability that begins "When you play me", and rule 383.4 puts a play effect on the Chain only once its card is on the board. Your opponent may answer Vision with a Reaction like any other triggered ability, but nothing they do keeps the unit or gear from arriving.
When your Main Deck is empty, Vision has nothing to look at and does nothing. Looking at cards, even too few of them, never makes you burn out.
Should you keep the card or recycle it?
Keep the card when you would be glad to draw it next turn, and recycle it when you would not. Ask what you could do with it on your next turn, with the runes you will have channeled by then.
- Recycle what you cannot use soon. An 8 Energy unit seen on your second turn is usually still two turns away from being played, and recycling it gives you a fresh chance at a card you can play.
- Keep the answer you are missing. When your opponent threatens a battlefield you hold, a Reaction that wins the fight is worth keeping, even if it is not the best card in your deck.
- Use what you learned. Even when you keep the card, you know your next draw and can plan your next turn around it.
A recycled card sits under every other card of your Main Deck, so in most games you will not meet it again. Recycle a card you will miss only when it truly cannot help you.
What happens when a card has Vision more than once?
Each instance of Vision triggers on its own, and rule 817.2 lets you choose for each one whether to recycle. If you keep the top card and nothing happens in between, the second Vision shows you the same card again. To see two different cards, recycle the first one.
Two cards hand Vision to other units. Gemcraft Seer, a Mind unit from Origins with 3 Might for 3 Energy, has Vision and gives it to your other units, so a Jeweled Colossus played while Gemcraft Seer is on the board has Vision twice. Forecaster, a Mind unit from Spiritforged with 2 Might for 2 Energy, gives Vision to your Mechs. It is a Mech itself, so you look at a card when you play it too. Tokens are played just like cards, so with Forecaster in play, the Mech token that Rumble, Scrapper plays when he holds lets you look at a card as well.
Which cards make the most of Vision?
Two champion units from Origins turn the look at your top card into more than a better draw.
- Karma, Channeler, an Order champion unit with 6 Might for 6 Energy, has Vision and buffs a friendly unit whenever you recycle one or more cards to your Main Deck. Her own Vision sets this off when you recycle the card you see, while recycling runes does not, because runes are not cards. Riot added the words "to your Main Deck" in an errata of 28 October 2025, so her Origins card prints a shorter text.
- Nocturne, Horrifying, a Chaos champion unit with 4 Might for 4 Energy, may be banished as you look at or reveal him from the top of your deck, and then played for one Power of any domain. When Vision shows you Nocturne, Horrifying, he can join the board at once for a single Power. Sai Scout and Mystic Poro are Chaos units with Vision that fit in his deck. His current text also comes from that errata.
Not every card that cares about the top of your deck works with Vision. Undertitan adds 2 Energy as it is revealed from your deck, and Vision only looks, so it does not count. Two more Mind champions carry Vision on top of their main ability: Jhin, Meticulous Killer from Unleashed and Swain, Visionary from Vendetta.
How is Vision different from Predict?
Vision is Predict that happens when a card is played, and nothing more. Predict is a game action rather than a keyword, and it appears on spells and other abilities, often with a number. With Predict 2 or more, you look at that many cards, recycle any of them and put the rest back on top in any order.
Eclipse, a Mind Reaction spell from Unleashed, gives a unit -4 Might for the turn and then has you Predict. Clairvoyance from Vendetta has you Predict 5 and then draw 2. Radiance, the fifth set, with its release on 23 October 2026, uses Predict too, as on Mysterious Chronomancer, a unit that has you Predict 2 when you play it.
Most cards with Vision are Mind cards, with a few in Chaos and Order, and the units and gear pages show them all with their full text. Vision follows the general rule of recycling: any card sent back to a Main Deck, whether from the top of the deck, the trash or the board, goes to the bottom of it. The full wording of Vision is rule 817 of the Core Rules on Riot's Rules Hub.
