Riftbound: the League of Legends trading card game is the work of more than one company. Riot Games owns the game and designs it, while partners print the cards, bring them to stores and publish the editions in other languages. Knowing who does what tells you where the rules come from, who to contact when a pack is wrong and why the cards look the way they do.

Which company designs Riftbound?

Riot Games designs Riftbound. Riot is the Los Angeles studio that has made League of Legends since 2009, and it also makes VALORANT, Teamfight Tactics and Legends of Runeterra. Riftbound uses the champions, regions and items of League of Legends, and all of them remain the property of Riot.

A Riftbound team inside Riot designs the cards and the sets. It is led by Executive Producer Chengran Chai, Game Director Dave Guskin and Design Director Nik Davidson, and the three of them explained their plans for the game in the State of the Game update of August 2026. Since the launch, Riot has added a Creative Director, an Art Director and a Publishing Director to the team.

Riot also writes the official rules. The Core Rules and the Tournament Rules are on the Riftbound Rules Hub, the newest versions dated 9 October 2026, and the ban lists and the errata are kept there too.

What does UVS Games do for Riftbound?

UVS Games manufactures Riftbound and gets it to stores. The rule booklet of the Proving Grounds box says it in one line: the game is manufactured by UVS Games under license from Riot Games. UVS Games is a tabletop publisher based in Seattle, best known for its own card game UniVersus, and it was called Jasco Games until 2023. Riot named it as the publishing and distribution partner on 24 February 2025, when Riftbound still had the working title Project K.

UVS Games works mostly with stores. A store that wants to sell Riftbound or run its events contacts UVS Games, and UVS Games decides how many event kits each store receives for events such as Pre-Rift, which the stores then get through their distributor. Players deal with UVS Games when something is wrong with a product: Riot's Riftbound FAQ says that a pack that is not what it should be goes back to the store first, and that UVS Games looks into it if the store cannot settle it.

Riot and UVS Games announced the French edition together in December 2025, and, as Riot's French roadmap set out, French cards have been in stores since 29 May 2026.

Who publishes the Chinese and Korean editions?

The Chinese editions are published by partners of Riot. Shining Soul publishes Riftbound in mainland China, where the game is called 符文战场. Riftbound came out there first, in August 2025, a few months before the English release on 31 October 2025. Since Vendetta, new sets come out in Simplified Chinese and English at the same time.

Glorious Soul (HK) Limited publishes the Traditional Chinese edition for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, which started with Origins in August 2026. In Korea, Riot Games launched the Korean edition with Origins on 18 September 2026. With English and French, that makes five editions, and each one began with Origins, the first set, on a date of its own.

Who runs Riftbound events?

Most Riftbound events are run by game stores, within a program that Riot sets up. Stores register their events, such as Pre-Rift events and Summoner Skirmish tournaments, in the Riftbound Gaming Network, and players sign up for them on playriftbound.com, Riot's own Riftbound site, where the pairings and results are recorded. You can look for the events near you with the event finder.

The Tournament Rules call a competition that is run by Riot Games or by an official competition organizer, and has a name and features of its own, a premier event (rule 201.1). Riot announces these events and their dates, and some are hosted by large organizers: the Showdown Series events of 2026 are run by organizers such as Star City Games and CoolStuffInc. The major events page lists what is coming, and together with the store events, premier events form a ladder of Riftbound tournaments.

Who draws the art on Riftbound cards?

Most Riftbound cards credit an art studio rather than a single artist, and each card names its artist at the bottom, after a small brush and next to the copyright line of Riot Games. The names that appear most often are studios such as Kudos Productions, Six More Vodka and Envar Studio. Some champion units carry League of Legends splash art and are credited to the League Splash Team, and the standard runes are credited to Greg Ghielmetti and Leah Chen.

The four cards below show the range. Darius, Trifarian is credited to the League Splash Team, Ahri, Inquisitive to Six More Vodka, Blade of the Ruined King to the studio Dark Glow and the Calm Rune to Greg Ghielmetti and Leah Chen.

Artists also sign some cards. The signed printings are overnumbered cards printed a second time with the artist's signature across the art, and the signed cards page lists all of them.

Is Riftbound made by the Legends of Runeterra team?

Not exactly. Riftbound has its own team at Riot, but the two games share people and pictures. Riftbound is a separate game with its own rules, played with physical cards, while Legends of Runeterra is Riot's digital card game. Dave Guskin, the Game Director of Riftbound, previously led Legends of Runeterra. In the State of the Game update of February 2026, Executive Producer Chengran Chai said that Riftbound reused art from Legends of Runeterra and other Riot games, and that each release brings more new art drawn for Riftbound cards.

The cards Riot has designed so far are all in the card list, and every boxed product is in the products guide. Since Riftbound first came out in 2025, Riot and UVS Games have put four main sets in stores, and Radiance, the fifth, has its release on 23 October 2026.
